Description
The Laser & Light Lab (LLL) at the Institute of Computer Science 4/University of Bonn has been set up to support teaching activities of undergraduate lectures of practical computer science. Programming work on Linux & Windows based systems focuses on communication in a distributed system, control of externally connected hardware (via parallel port, USB, TCP/UDP/IP) and external hardware (DMX light controller, ILDA-compatible full-color laser projector). Since 2013, the LLL is involved in the standardization activities of IDN (ILDA Digital Network), e.g. contributing with proof-of-concept implementations to several IDN use cases, like software driver for IDN producers (e.g. HE Laserscan, Medialas Mamba/M III, mylaserpage Mamba X4 and others), IDN-Toolbox/IDN-Laser-VR to visualize received IDN streams, IDN plug-in for Wireshark, and others. Starting at the ILDA Conferene 2018 (Montreal), the IDN-Switcher & IDN-Recorder have been used to control all laser show systems and projectors (again at the ILDA conference 2019 in Orlando). At the virtual ILDA conferences 2020 and 2021, IDN streaming experiments over the Internet have been demonstrated between different ILDA member's locations.
