Audience Scanning Safety course

This self-directed course consists of a 3-hour video of a class done by Greg Makhov (ILDA Safety Committee chair), the 80 slides shown during the course, a 71-page transcript of the video including highlighting of the most important parts, and a 4-page overview/summary. After students have viewed the video and reviewed the other materials, ILDA will email a PDF test that they have to send back within an hour. If they pass the test, then they receive a Certificate of Completion for the course. Note that the course does NOT teach how to set up specific audience scanning equipment from the manufacturer. This is about audience scanning and beam measurement in general. Also, passing this course is NOT a requirement for U.S. FDA/CDRH (or any other agency that we know of). Instead, the course gives greater knowledge to persons considering or doing audience scanning. COURSE TOPICS: Audience scanning fundamentals, safety standards and MPE (Maximum Permissible Exposure, scanning parameters and beam velocity, beam divergence and irradiance, overview of Pangolin PASS system, measurement equipment and procedures, beam attenuation mapping, live demonstration, regulatory requirements, protecting cameras and video projectors, recommended metering equipment, ILDA's proposed "Category B Standard" for audience scanning.
